Stephan Rozario (Uttom)

Journalist & Photographer

Rozario is a freelance journalist and photographer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His work covers religion, human rights, minorities, the environment, and politics, but he's especially drawn to indigenous communities and religious minorities. He originally studied economics but switched to journalism, earning a degree in visual journalism from the National University of Bangladesh and a diploma from Ateneo De Manila University in the Philippines, photography from several institutes. That mix of economics and visual storytelling helps him break down complex issues like climate vulnerability, ethnic discrimination, and religious freedom.

Today, Stephan writes for international outlets like EWTN News, Global Sisters Report, Our Sunday Visitor, National Catholic Reporters and a few other outlets. Much of his reporting looks at how climate change hits indigenous communities hard in Bangladesh's river and coastal areas and religious freedom. Whether through his camera or his writing, he focuses on documenting injustice while highlighting local solutions that mainstream media often misses.
